15 October, 2009 - filmhu

Tamás Sas (Nine and Half Dates, S.O.S. Love) this year is very busy: the director is making three different films. The shooting of the Lull (Szélcsend) has finished, this chamber drama takes place in a boat with three characters. The movie version of series Espresso 2 (Presszó 2) is also in pre-production, and finally there is a romantic comedy just in shooting: the Night of the Singles (Szinglik éjszakája).

This movie is trying to be a real genre movie, romantic comedy, so the script was developed very strictly by a whole team: the original story is from Sándor Szélesi, the writers were Péter Szajki, András M. Kovács and Nóra Zsigmond, but Sas, the producers József Cirkó and Tamás Dér the srcipt editor Judit Csikász also made some subtle changes. The film is produced by HCC Media http://www.hccmedia.hu/ and Movieline Enterntainment, the budget is quite high comparing to an average Hungarian one – HUF 497 million (EUR 187.500). The Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary (MMKA) granted the film HUF 30 million, but TV2, one of the major commercial TV station also invested to the film, which is supposed to be released at Valentine's day of 2010 – best timing for a romantic comedy.

The story is about four female friends decided not get married ever, but one of them changes her mind. Actually in the day of the wedding somebody steals the wedding rings in the garden of the mention where the wedding and the party is going to take place, so the young girls have to find them.

According to Sas this film is meant to be a tale, the characters can be a sort of idols for the audience.
