National Theater
The new National Theater was completed in 2002 at the Pest side of the Lágymányos bridge. The building, which combines limestone, granite and glass, is surrounded by a park. The central section of the building is made up of a nearly circular auditorium and a studio stage. These are surrounded by the spaces used by the audience and the operational facilities. The 619-seat auditorium is topped by an oval dome. It is richly decorated with sculptures and paintings.
