It was built in Classicist style on the site of the earlier cathedral in the second half of the 18th century. Its facade is dominated by a vestibule with six pairs of columns, a pair of towers that appear to be unfinished are connected with a ballustered attic. Its large single-naved interior is covered by a dome, the frescoes in the sanctuary and the dome are the works of the Austrian painter Maulbertsch. The cathedral also has a crypt.
