Széchenyi memorial promenade
From the last stop of the cog-wheel railway, a short walk leads to the Széchenyi memorial and lookout point. Miklós Ybl originally designed the building as a fountain on Heroes’ square, and it was relocated here only in 1898. Below the lookout point stands the Széchenyi memorial erected in 1860: a bench and stone column mark the place named after István Széchenyi, the greatest statesman of the Reform era, the builder of the Chain bridge.
