Szabadság square

The spacious, circular square is located close to Kossuth square in downtown Pest. The square is the starting point of avenues, which are lined by enormous apartment buildings. The structures with Eclectic facades were built in the second half of the 19th century in the grand-bourgeois style that characterizes the entire district. The single remaing monument of Soviet heroes stands in the middle of the square. Notable buildings include the headquarters of Hungarian Television, the palace of the National Bank and the building of the American embassy.
