Árpád bridge
The widest and the longest – nearly 1 km long – bridge on the Danube in Budapest. Its construction was already decided in 1903, but the tender for its design was only issued in 1923. In the years following its completion, it was the longest bridge in Europe. Construction started in 1939, but because of the war, it only finished in 1949-50. Between 1981 and 1984, it was transformed into a six-lane bridge, and a tram tracks were also built.
