Festival: Hungarian films to conquer Montreal

Bunch of Hungarian films go to Montreal Film Festival, one of the 12 A category festivals in the world. The event starts at the 27th of August, and four feature and three short Hungarian movies were selected to the program.


The international audience can meet Pink cheese (Rózsaszín sajt) the debut film of Barnabás Tóth, a romantic comedy directed, co-written (with Frank Rizzo and Dániel Hamvas) and the main role played by Tóth. The film was made by company Filmart (http://www.filmart.hu/) in a French-Hungarian cooproduction, the budget was HUF 115 million (EUR 426 000). The producer is Jenő Hábermann, co-producers are Tamás Tolmár és Dominique Garing. The shooting lasted for 28 days.

 

Árpás Sopsits is also heading to the Canadian festival, but he's returning: in 2001 he already won the main prize for the Abandoned (Torzók), now he makes another attempt with The Seventh Circle (A hetedik kör). The two other feature contesters are Gergely Fonyó's Made in Hungaria and the winner of the Golden Reel of 40th Hungarian Film Festival, the Lost Times (Utolsó idők) from Áron Mátyássy.

 

Three Hungarian shorts also try to conquer Montreal: The History of Aviation (A repülés története) of Bálint Kenyeres, the Backwords (Fordítva) of Dávid Spáh and the Listen to me! (Figyelj rám!), a short animation of Elena Rogova, which was made in Hungary.
