Oscar winner animator’s new project
Academy Award winner animator, Ferenc Rófusz – among seven other Hungarian projects – was present at the Cartoon Forum , organized in Sopron, Hungary between 14-17th September. His project is an animation series for 5-11 year old children with the title Hoppi Holidays. In the center of the cartoon – called by the producers nice, innocent and humanistic – will be the inoffensive hoppies, who are little creatures repsonsible for holidays all over the world. The series will be produced by Hoppi Film Ltd.
The first episode of 26 minutes will deal with Christmas: the hoppies make and collect gifts for children while trying to protect the environment. According to producers Péter Tiborszky and Tamás Salusinszky due to the subject this series can be continued endlessly if the finances are available.
Ferenc Rófusz will draw the characters by hand which will be animated in 2D and completed after digitally with 3D elements. Currently the first episode is in pre-production, the characters are already designed, and the storyboard, the script and the animatic is under development. The budget of one episode will be around 300 000 euros plus postproduction costs. They think that there are also a lot of secondary possibilities of the project like applications for computers and mobile phones.
