Shipyard Island
The 2.5-km-long , 108-hectare island lies close to the Óbuda side of the river. The shipyard it was named after was established in the first half of the 19th century and closed down in 1991. Its building serve various purposes these days. In the enormous park of the island, there are promenades, playgrounds and sports fields. It is the site of the largest music event in Europe, the annual Sziget Festival.
