New regional film fund in Hungary
After the southern and western ones, the North Hungarian Regional Film Fund is established. The centre is in Miskolc and connected to the film festival CineFest (http://www.cinefest.hu/hu/hirek.html) of the city. The founder is the leadership of the city, which also donated the capital (HUF 5 million), the goal is to attract as many productions as it's possible. The EU supports the regional ideas more than the national projects.
This region doesn't belong to highly developed studios or infrastructure, but for middle size productions can be really beneficial to work here. On one hand the public places (schools, roofs, playgrounds etc.) can be hired easier and so much cheaper than for instance in Budapest. There will be established a huge database with all the available local facilites, potential crew members. The Fund is going to establish a media library of those films which were applied for the CineFest, and the coordination of the regional film related education is also planned. And the cooperation with the Slovak parts of the region.
Now director Zsombor Dyga is shooting his new feature Down to Ground (Utolér) in Miskolc.
