The Pecs Film Studio could be accomplished as soon as the end of 2009.

The complex of ‘Pecs Film Factory and Media Studio’ is going to be built on the 7-acre land of the former Mecsek Hills coal mines and should be ready and running by the end of 2009- as said by Tamas Sas film director who also cooked up the whole project.

He mentioned to the Hungarian News Agency (MTA) that he believes the historic city of Pecs might actually attract some international players in the movie industry this the region.

Tamas Sas explained that even though the negotiations regarding funding are currently still on, however as soon as they reach agreement the construction works will start. The anticipated costs will reach 1.5-2 billion HUF, but he did point out the fact that of course final expenses cannot be realized until the actual accomplishment of the whole complex.

He highlighted that the central part of the building complex is going to be the already existing 300m2 warehouse in the lot to which they are going to attach a 1200m2 Studio. The additional necessary sites and places for making the movies are going to be built on an other 1200-1500 m2 area- he added.

The movie director hopes that the city of Pecs and the complex there will become attractive for the international film industry- however, at the same time he also has high expectations regarding housing the local and regional media as well.
