Hungarian dance film in postproduction
Academy Award winner Vilmos Zsigmond is the DOP of a special feature film which uses especially the universal language of dance and music to deliver its message on the everyday compromises. The film is directed by Endre Hules, who is best known as actor, he even worked with Polish actor legend Jerzy Grotowski.

The story of The maiden danced to death was first presented as a very successful dance show by Honvéd Ensemble and after receiving funding from Eurimages and the Hungarian Motion Picture Association the production has started.

American stars have joined the project (Deborah Kara Unger and Stephen McHattie will play the main roles) and the 80 years old DOP, Vilmos Zsigmond assured a high quality cinematography. The shooting started in Slovenia, continued in Budapest and Montreal and finally ended with the recording of the dance scenes in Budapest.

The film – produced by Cinema-film Kft., Quiet Revolution and Casablanca Films – has a budget of 440 million HUF (approx. 1.615.000 Euros) and is intended for an international audience. Producer Gábor Garami plans to finish the film by the end of the year and present it in February at The Hungarian Film Week. Delay might be caused only by the financial problems of MMKA – as we have written earlier this year, this film is also on the list of films whose financing has been put on hold.
