Jancsó Retro
In the first half of the month in the Film Museum of Split, at the end of March the Film Museum of Zagreb will organise a retrospective screening of Miklós Jancsó's films. Apart from his earlier work, The Lord's Lantern in Budapest (1998) will also be on the programme in Croatia.

Dealer is in competition in Latin America
Dealer directed by Benedek Fliegauf has been invited into the competition with 15 other films by the festival inMar del Plata beginning on March 11th. The festival, which is one of the most important cinematic event in Latin America, has been organised for 19th time this year. Apart from Berlin, Cannes and Venice, it is one of the 10 film competitions that has been qualified as an A category one by FIAFP, International Federation of Film Producers Associations year after year.
Fliegauf’s film had been shown for the first time to foreign audiences in Berlin in February where it received the prize awarded by the jury of the readers of Berliner Zeitung. After Mar del Plata Dealer will be screened in Lecce, Rome and Brussels as well.
At the Latin American film festival, the president of which is Miguel Pereira this year, the first part of the Tulse Luper Trilogy shot by Peter Greenaway in Hungary will also be screened.
Fliegauf’s first film Forest has travelled all over the world and will now be screened in Prague as part of the programme of the European Film Week.

Women’s festivals
Little Vilma, which Márta Mészáros directed in 1999 as a part of her diary series will be presented at the women’s festival in Sao Paulo beginning on March 11th. A thematic film festival concentrating on women directors will also be held in Bucharest starting from March 12th where I Love Budapest directed by Ágnes Incze will be presented to the public.

Ballroom Dancing in Alba
Infinity
, a festival held in Alba, Italy will begin on March 12th. Its main theme will be „art as indicators of Man’s spiritual dimension”. Ballroom Dancing, a documentary film directed by Lívia Gyarmathy in 2003 which has since won great recognition will be screened at the festival.

Forgács’ films at the Canary Islands
The international festival beginning on March 11th in Las Palmas is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. Péter Forgács’ Bourgeois Dictionary and A Bibó Reader will be screened in the programme.

In San José, Northern California
Between March 3-14 Down by Love directed by Tamás Sas will be screened in the programme of CineQuest International Film Festival in San José, Northern California. This strange love drama won the prize for best artistic contribution at the Cairo Film Festival last autumn.
A Bus Came... , a sketch film directed by five young directors who used to attend Sándor Simó’s class at film school will be screened for the first time in the USA at CineQuest in San José.

Vagabond in Sofia
In the second week of March Vagabond by György Szomjas will be screened in the programme „European Screen”, which concentrates on European cinema, at the 8th Sofia International Film Festival. Since its world premiere in Berlin in 2003, the film has become a festival favourite. It has been invited to almost 20 festivals so far.

A Long Weekend In Pest and Buda in Colorado
A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda directed by Károly Makk (2003) will be screened among 120 new films from all over the world in Durango, Colorado beginning with March 6th.
