Hungarian success novel on big screen
After a TV series shot in the seventies, the first feature film based on one of the most popular Hungarian youth novels, Abigél (written by Magda Szabó 1917-2007), is in preproduction. The film will be directed by Ágnes Bánfalvy, who played one of the main roles in the television series.

Producer Csaba Horváth (director of Európa Expressz, 1998) is writing the script together with Ákos Barnóczky (director of Szőke Kóla, 2005). The casting has just started with the biggest task being the finding of the right actress for the leading role – she is searched in the whole country by the production.

According to MTI the budget of the film will be 400-500 million HUF (approx. 1.460.000-1.820.000 Euros) and the shooting will start in August or September 2011. The film is planned to be released in 2012.
