International stars lead Magic Boys
An American gangster starts a business fraud where accidentally two Hungarian workers are also involved, who end up in a chippendale show in England – this is the starting point of one of the biggest Hungarian projects in production this year. The leading roles of Magic Boys are played by Vinnie Jones (known from several Guy Ritchie movies) and Michael Madsen. Experienced comedy director Róbert Koltai has also won major Hungarian stars (Pindroch Csaba, Szabó Győző, Hujber Ferenc) for this film which will speak mainly in English.
Producer Gábor Koltai P. told magyar.film.hu that the film is 85% ready, there will be two more shootings in August (in London) and in September (in Budapest). After several conflicts between partners and negative financing decisions from the Hungarian Motion Picture Association (MMKA) the film will be an English-Hungarian-American production with 75% of the budget being supported by the Hungarian partners.
The film has a considerable budget of 850 million HUF (cca. 3 million euros), and the producers already have the funds for the last two sessions of the shooting, but they still need funding to finish the movie. Magic Boys is planned to be presented in Hungarian cinemas by the end of the year.
