Istanbul Starts Shooting in July

A woman in her fifties, left by her husband is in the center of Ferenc Török’s new film which starts shooting this July and is planned to be completed by the end of the year. The shooting will start on 12th of July in Istanbul where the crew will work for 13 days. Afterwards on 2nd of August a 17 day shooting will start in Budapest.

Török is the director who presented the local cult-film (Moszkva tér / Moscow Square - a film about the experience of the fall of communism in Hungary) and two other, completely different movies, before working for several years for television. Istanbul (producer: Új Budapest Filmstúdió Kft.) is his return to the big screen: the emotionally hurt woman – played by the Dutch actress Johanna ter Steege – leaves her family and after a long travel ends up in Istanbul. The film will speak mainly in Hungarian, but due to the international cast and locations there will be English and Turkish dialogues too.

Istanbul is a Hungarian-Turkish-Dutch-Irish co-production with a total budget of 1.4 million Euros. The film is produced by the Hungarian Új Budapest Filmstúdió (producer László Kántor) with Phanta Vision (Netherlands, producer Petra Goedings - http://www.phantavision.com/english.html); Ripple World Pictures Ltd. (Ireland, producers Dominic Wright, Jacqueline Kerrin - http://rippleworld.com/) and Kuzey Film (Turkey, producer Serkan Acar - http://www.kuzeyfilm.com/).
