Nimród Antal to Direct the Puskás film?
Producer Ádám Neményi informed us that the outlines of the film were still sketchy, and that it would take a large budget by Hungarian standards to shoot the movie about Ferenc Puskás.

The name Puskás opens doors

They would like to finance the film from mainly Hungarian sources, but also hope to attract investors from those countries where the name Ferenc Puskás is enough to open doors. The film's other producer, Géza Kaszás, previously known more as an actor and presenter, named Spain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Australia, and Greece—countries where Puskás played or coached.

Although the project is still in a very early phase, Ádám Neményi mentioned Nimród Antal, world famous for Kontroll, as director. The director's identity however is not yet confirmed, as any foreign production partners investing considerable sums would have a say  the choice of director.

He could even handle wet soap

The role of Puskás will be played by 3 or 4 different actors at the different stages in his life. Casting will again depend on whether the film is financed by Hungarian or foreign money. However one things that is sure is that Alfredo di Stefan, who must be included in the production, will be played by a Spanish actor, possibly  a Spanish footballer. György Szöllősi, author of the book Puskás, is planning to finish the script by the end of the year. Following this the project could gather pace in the first half of next year.

The film would like to show the genius of Puskás—that the legends and myths about him were in fact true, based on personal accounts. Puskás could do anything that could be done by a footballer. For example, if he wanted to hit the woodwork from long range, he could do it ten times out of ten. He could even handle flying wet soap with his feet in the shower.

Documentary in April

Based on the book by Szöllősi, the producers started work on a documentary directed by Tamás Almási. It will not only be shown in festivals and on television, but will also be screened in cinemas, a practice not common in Hungary. Almási feels that the name of the most famous Hungarian will be enough to attract crowds to a documentary on his life.
