The bridge built in the 1930s and named after governor Miklós Horthy was reconstructed in the wake of its WW2 destruction in the 1950s. The iron bridge with four lanes and tram tracks connects traffic in south Buda with the Nagykörút (Grand Boulevard) in Pest. University campuses are located at its Buda side, the busy Boráros square junction lies at its Pest side.
