Applications are open for HFW
For the first time of its existence animation films will also be part of the Hungarian Film Week which will take place between 1-8 February 2011. The Hungarian Motion Picture Association (the application information is only available here and only in Hungarian) has announced that applications are open until 15th of November in five categories. Productions can be nominated for the feature film, television film, short and experimental film, animation film and non-fiction film programs.

For every category films not older than two years can be nominated which are considered as Hungarian based by the rules of the National Film Office. Foreign language films are also accepted, if they are considered a Hungarian production, but in this case they nedd to have Hungarian subtitles. Those films that were previously nominated for HFW or which were reedited or re-shot since than will not be accepted. It is a novelty this year, that beside the official application form a specific financial form has also to be completed and submitted to HFW.

In every category if the number of applied films demands it there will be a preselection process. The number of accepted films will be decided later based on the number of nominated productions. The program of next year’s HFW will be consisted of a competition, an outside of competition section, of informational screenings and other complementary programs.
