German funding added to István Szabó’s new feature

Academy Award winner director István Szabó is working on the adaptation of a Hungarian novel, written by Magda Szabó, which has been translated to 32 languages. The project has recently been included among the international co-productions which are funded by the two national German funds, German Federal Film Board (FFA) and German Federal Film Fund (DFFF).

The Door presents the relationship of two strong women: Magda, a writer struggling for success and her maid, Emerence, who has a very peculiar behaviour, and who doesn’t let anyone to enter her private life. The leading star of this drama with a planned running time of 100 minutes is Academy Award winner Helen Mirren.

The film is produced by FilmArt Ltd., co-produced by Intuit Pictures and worldwide sales is handled by Bankside Films. The budget of the film is 7.5million USD and is to be finished during this year.
