Hungarian Film Week: More Visual and Open
Chairman of Film Week Board, Attila Janisch film director it would be possible to realize twice as many ideas as this year. However, there are going to be some changes this year as well.

European point of view, more personal debates - the feature film field

New aspects
Attila Janisch
One of the most important changes is that among the members of the feature film jury specialists are invited from abroad. According to Attila Janisch while there are more and more co productions, it is important to have the objective opinion and different approaches of foreign films experts for feature film makers. Organizers promise that in contrast with the practice of previous years heated debates are expected, in which jury members will not their hide their opinion. From the foreign film experts the audience will have answers for what the chances are of a certain production to be successful in the European scene.

Next year Janisch would like to organize a script market similar to Rotterdam and Berlin forums where the sent in projects could meet the interested film makers. The emphasis will be on the novelty of visual language in the 37th Film Festival. On Friday and Saturday night we can enjoy the programs of six VJ teams in Millenary Inn, and get an glimpse into their concepts about the relation between collage, fragmental forms, pictorial association and music.

„Invisible” Films are Also Screened – Documentary, Short Films

It is also a significant difference compared to last year that not only the officially selected movies could be watched but all the submitted works are shown in Mammut Movie Theater, and all the films will be listed in the catalogue. At the request of the Film Week Board on top of the originally elected 23 works in experimental and short film category five more films, all together 28 works will take part in the competition.

Millenáris Fogadó

Members of this (and probably next) year’s Board:

Members of the board are delegated by professional organizations. Besides the decision-making body, several economic experts and organizers, as well as representatives of the Filmunio and the Hungarian Moving Picture Public Foundation are involved in the project.

This year the budget of the Festival is the lowest ever, since it was given no state subsidy. The amount of money needed is raised from the Hungarian Moving Picture Public Foundation and various sponsors.
