Natural Born Losers: HBO-series shot in Hungary

HBO, among other things, was inspired by the Darwin Award – a posthumous award for people who die in a most absurd way – to adapt different, mainly pathetic and morbid death stories for the screen with Hungarian scriptwriters, directors and actors.
HBO asked young directors (Péter Bartos, Márton Szirmai, Barnabás Tóth), scriptwriters (Bálint Hegedűs, Gábor Krigler, Balázs Lovas) to adapt the stories. According to HBO, the delicate and basically difficult topic though may seem morbid, they try to present it in a humoruous way. All the episodes were shot in Hungary with Hungarian actors. The best scriptwriter is life itself - turns out from the announcement of HBO - as most of the stories – though they seem to be fictional – are based on real events.
The episodes of the series show the unemployed alcohol addict from the Great Hungarian Plain, the terrorizing-artist who joined a group of foolish young people, two fanatic death metal fans and three competing teenagers. Other strange figures also appear, such as a secret agent, a paranoiac chemical engineer, but the case of the Danish minister candidate and the old representative who is hated by everyone all prove: it does not matter how old you are, what your profession is, idiocy can be fatal at any time, anywhere... - announced the HBO in connection with the new series.
