Pohárnok: cinematographer of the year

Gergely Pohárnok has been chosen for the title best cinematographer of the year by the Hungarian Society of Cinematographers (HSC).

The 185 members of the HSC voted for awards in 16 categories choosing from among 121 works of approximately one hundred cinematographers. At the event organized for the second time on Saturday, Gyögy Illés, János Tóth, László Kovács and Vilmos Zsigmond received Legenda-lifetime awards.

The jury selected from the films made in 2004-2005. In the category of feature film Nagy András has been awarded for A fény ösvényei and among the students of the Academy of Drama and Film Katalin Mészáros received an award for her film titled Laci.

Dániel Garas (Máassar Fiyyi – Fadt Shaker) proved to be the best in the category of musical and Sándor Várkonyi won the category of dramatized documentary with Álomturné. Tibor Nemes’s performance in A kékszakállú herceg vára has earned him recognition in the category of musical.  Szabolcs Mosonyi’s nature film Gyapjas pille – Hernyók a pokolból has also won the appreciation of the HSC members.

Megasztár brought fame not only for its participants but also for its cinematographer Zsolt László in the category of shows. In the category of news programs András Szobrász’s Filmhíradó 51 proved to be best, and in the category of civilization series it was Tamás Nemescsói’s work Jelenlét aranyban that won the award.

Zsolt Tóth won the category of commercials with Törley, and among the television films Péter Szatmári proved to be best with his achievement in 1984 a commendatory film for Orwell’s novel for the Nagy Könyv. In the category of experimental short films Sándor Kardos won with Résfilm, while in the category of short films Tamás Keményffy has been awarded by the jury for Now you see me, now you don’t.

Among the Hungarian documentaries Amari Kris has earned recognition for its creator Francisco Gózon while among the films made in co-production Fateless delivered an award for Gyula Pados.
