Katalin Vajda has been named the new director of Hungary's Filmunio, the national organization that promotes Hungarian films internationally.

Due to the blocked finances of the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary in 2010 and based on the figures which can be seen in the Hungarian state budget plans for 2011 the organization announced that „it doesn’t have the financial possibilities to organize the Hungarian Film Week” (http://www.hungarianfilmweek.com/frontpage/News/). However with regard to the fact that next spring Hungary will have the presidency of the European Union and considering the importance of presenting to the public the productions made with public funding MMK asks the Ministry of National Resources to insure the necessary finances to organize the event.  

MAB, the first series created directly and only for Internet in Hungary is ready to be launched (trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogInq8enG8I&feature=related). The project has been initiated by Ádám Horgas, director at alternative theater groups. The series will be comprised of 16 episodes, 8 minutes long each and will be broadcasted on Youtube.

Though the official decision about the liquidation – promised for 31st October – hasn’t been announced yet, the future of Motion Picture Foundation of Hungary seems at least uncertain. However – as Index.hu has shown it - certain directions can already be seen from the newly published budget-plan of Hungary for 2011.  

For the first time of its existence animation films will also be part of the Hungarian Film Week which will take place between 1-8 February 2011.
